Rachel Ray + WeddingMoons + Leap Year = Surprises and Sunsets!

Leap years are widely regarded as the only time women can propose to their boyfriends instead of the other way around. The tradition has been around since fifth century Ireland, believe it or not.  So, armed with this tradition, when February 29^th came around Dana decided to surprise her long-time love with a Leap Day proposal. As if the idea wasn’t bold enough, Dana proposed to Kevin in front of a live audience and Rachel Ray herself, on special segment of the Rachel Ray show!

We just had to ask Dana, what made her decide to propose to her boyfriend? In her own words Dana said,

“Kevin owns his own landscaping business and has an amazing work ethic. He has always worked hard to help support me and my son and it’s hard to figure out ways to show him how much we appreciate him sometimes. We have always seemed to do things in a different way, so I decided why I couldn’t propose to him?”

Needless to say, things got pretty emotional after Kevin happily accepted. In a surprise turn of events for both Dana and Kevin, Rachel Ray (who was pretty emotional by then too) teamed up with Sandals Resorts to give the newly-engaged couple a WeddingMoon at any Sandals Resorts of their choice. Seriously, talk about a bold move that paid off!

The couple walked down the aisle at Beaches Negril on January 9^th, 2013 with both of their families in tow for an intimate family wedding and then later escaped to Sandals Negril for their much deserved honeymoon. When asked about their favorite moment from their dream destination wedding, Dana and Kevin agreed it had to be the sunset on the evening of their wedding.

“On the evening of our wedding, the sunset in Negril was amazing. We were in Negril for 6 days and I can honestly say that there wasn’t a more perfect sunset as there was that evening.

“We wish Kevin and Dana many more evenings of glorious sunsets together as one!
