5 Ways Beach Weddings are Totally Green
Happy Earth Day brides-to-be! In honor of the day set aside for earth awareness and green initiatives, we wanted to share how having a beach wedding is one of the “greenest” way possible to get married. Save the planet and have the beautiful wedding of your dreams with these Earth Day wedding ideas.
1. The beach in the day is perfect for natural lighting.
Having your wedding under a clear island sky with the sun peaking through the white fluffy clouds provides the best possible photos. Seriously, everyone can see how gorgeous you look in your dress under the natural lighting at the beach. Best of all, natural lighting is a photographer’s and videographer’s best friend; no need for lugging around high powered lighting equipment that relies solely on electricity.
2. Cool and natural sea breeze means no air conditioning.
Your wedding guests can enjoy both your wedding and a lovely day at the beach with a light sea breeze keeping them cool. Not to mention the natural air won’t dry out your wedding make-up! For extra cooling (and a pop of color) you can arrange re-usable Chinese folding fans on guests chairs just in case they need it. Green, cool and chic!
3. Give your guests a chance to reconnect with the earth.
Even if you’re not a nature lover you have to admit feel of the sand between toes and the sound gentle lapping of the waves creates a wonderful and calming experience. Also, ladies no high heels! No need to search high and lo for the perfect shoes when you can go barefoot or decorate your feet with some pretty barefoot sandals. Brides can set up a flip-flop station for guests to exchange their wedding shoes for comfy and re-usable flip-flops.
4. Natural flora and fauna make gorgeous and natural wedding decorations.
They’re so many gorgeous native flowers and trees to be found around the islands. Hold your wedding or reception in a location where the natural flora and fauna is decoration enough!
Shells and palm leaves also make lovely reusable wedding decorations as aisle treatments or chair decorations. Really, there’s no limit to what you can use them for. Even if you don’t want to use them for anything other than your wedding, you can leave the shells in their natural environment without creating any waste!
5. The beach at night gives you an excuse to use fire pits and torches.
There’s really nothing more romantic and enchanting than having your first dance around a fire pit. Use individual candles on tables and grounded fire torches around your reception perimeter to create a totally green and romantic atmosphere without electricity.
