Show Up Golden: 2013 Golden Globe Wedding Dress Inspiration
The annual 2013 Golden Globes were last night (of course, you knew that) and the stars were out in rare form. While we love to gawk at the fashion sense of the rich and famous just to see what’s hot and what’s not, this year we were overwhelmed with “What’s Wedding Material”! Seriously, between Jennifer Lawrence, Jennifer Lopez and Julianne Hough we were practically fawning over the spectacular dresses this year. The stars paraded out an array of wedding gown and reception dress inspiration this year! Lucky for all of you upcoming 2013 brides, we’ve put together our favorite wedding inspired dresses and we even managed to sneak in a surprise trend we LOVE for destinations brides this year. Any bride who pulls off one of these bold looks on their wedding day will definitely “show up Golden”!
Wedding Gown Inspiration
Top Wedding Gown: Julianne Hough
We LOVE her entire look from her slight punk rock-glam hair and smokey eyes to her simple jewelry pairing. She let the dress steal the show and steal the show it did! The dress with its fluffy tulle and gold grommets would fit right in among the lush gardens of Sandals Whitehouse or the prestige of Sandals La Toc. Once again designer Monique L’hullier proves herself to be the one of the queens of gorgeous wedding gowns. We think this gown would go lovely with dainty gold antique button earrings- like these!
Our other favorites for Wedding Gown Inspiration were actresses Hayden Panettiere, Amy Adams and Megan Fox who all dared to be nude. (BTW, we’re very into nude colored wedding gowns this year!)
Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried and Isla Fisher wore very simple yet elegant destination wedding friendly gowns and we were very impressed. When it comes to destination weddings simple and elegan yet detailed go a long way!
Reception Dress Inspiration
Your makeup isn’t the only thing that can go from day wedding to night reception. A sexy little number that you wear post-wedding especially if you have a large, tulle heavy gown and want to let loose at your reception. Plus, it’s a chance to switch up your look and get ultra-glammed up for a night of romance and dancing. This year the stars turned up the heat and gave us some pretty daring looks for a super sexy yet ultra-chic nighttime reception!
Top Reception Dress: Jennifer Lopez
Whew! Can we just say, Jennifer Lopez looks stunning in this curve hugging, sheer, Zuhair Murad gown. It’s bold, it’s sexy but it’s also really 1950’s pin up classy … love it! Of course the waved hair and earrings make the look very Marilyn Munroe.
Heidi Klum also gave us life with this Alexandre Vauthier couture gown (complete with train and a split high enough to make your grandmother gasp!). Rounding off the list of reception dresses we’re dying to see our brides in were Michelle Dockery, Francesca Eastwood and Lea Michele (below).
Top Destination Wedding Dress Trend: Kerry Washington and Rachel Weiz
It’s not every day we see a trend that we think is perfect for our destination brides. We’re very protective of you all and we only want the best for you! Actresses Kerry Washington and Rachel Weiz win our seal of approval for these dresses that we think are perfect for a sun-splashed, Caribbean wedding right out on the beach. From the detailed sheer gorgeousness of Kerry Washington’s dress to the cute Betty Bop inspired polka dots of Rachel Weiz this trend is haute for us.
