Funny Wedding Stories; We Want to Hear Yours!!
Sunny here! I love a good wedding story; I love a funny wedding story even better! There’s nothing like looking back on the most important day of your life and having a good chuckle at the officiant forgetting the name of the bride and groom or the flower girl stripping down to the bare necessities during a heat wave.

As a former bridal consultant (and serial wedding guest) the funniest moment I have ever witnessed involved my father during a black-tie wedding reception. During the cocktail hour my father went incognito, much to the chagrin of my (very polite) mother. As the reception hall was about to open for seating, my mother broke out into a near sweat at the thought of my father walking in at the same time as they announced the arrival of the bride and groom (introducing the newlyweds Mr. and Mrs. Miller and…Patrick?!!).
As we took our seats at our table, my mother’s fear turned into simmering anger. Luckily, the bride and groom made their entrance without a cameo from my father, and everyone settled in to begin the reception. During one of the speeches, my father finally came back to the reception hall. Before my mother could finish her tight lipped “Where in the world have you been?” my father told us what happened:
On his way to the bathroom, his shoes (which he had rented with his tux for the evening) fell apart; literally, the entire sole dropped off his left shoe and he found himself walking on his sock leaving his sole behind! Luckily, he was able to find a maintenance man in the hotel, who used wood glue to mend my dad’s shoe back together. My mother and I had a good chuckle at the idea of my father dragging one foot behind him around the hotel and we all continued the evening. But the story doesn’t end there.
My mother loves to dance; so when the dance floor opened, she grabbed my father’s hand and led him to the center of the room. No less than 10 minutes later my mother and father returned to their seats with my father dragging one foot behind him in an attempt to hide the fact that the sole had now dropped off the right shoe! That was pretty much it for me; I laughed whole-heartedly with tears running from my eyes. Needless to say, he was not amused, and he and my mother (she was turning red with repressed laughter) made their exit – with father’s shoe in hand. It turns out the shoes were dry rot and literally one good dance away from falling apart.
Now that I’ve told you my favorite story, it’s your turn to tell me yours. Submit your funny story in the comments section below and the funniest wedding story will be featured on our blog!
