Ask Marsha-Ann: How to Plan an Epic Destination Proposal
WeddingMoons expert, Marsha-Ann Brown shared her best destination proposal tips with The Knot and now she’s sharing them with you!
Sandals WeddingMoons partnered with the dream wedding experts at The Knot to present Destination Dream, a series featuring tips for planning the ultimate romantic destination proposal and destination wedding. Of course there’s no way you can talk about romance without including the “Duchess Of Romance” herself! Here’s what our #AskMarshaAnn dream-wedding maker told The Knot about proposing in style at Sandals Resorts.
Find a Super-Romantic Spot
According to Marsha-Ann Brown, Director of Romance for Sandals Resorts, it’s all about location, location, location. Her team has helped to plan proposals everywhere, from under a blanket of stars—with ocean waves crashing in the background—to a cozy cabana with rose petals spelling out “Will you marry me?” on the sand. “It was a very windy day, and we could not let those words blow away!” Brown says.
Make it Sentimental
Marriage proposals should be unique to each couple—and it’s totally easy to add your own spin, whether you write a poem or just speak straight from the heart. A few ideas we love: Planning a scavenger hunt with clues that tie back to special moments leading up to a ring, or creating a photo book or a slideshow that documents your entire relationship with a proposal at the end. Have your own song? Play it during your big speech. Bonus: It’ll be even more special for your first dance at the wedding. Brown and her team have even helped out one groom-to-be by bringing in a violinist to play a live rendition of Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud.”
Capture The Moment
Sure, you can snap a selfie, or ask a stranger to take a pic. But a professional photographer one-ups that by a mile. If you plan to propose at Sandals, you’ll get a complimentary photo session to fully document the engagement. “We’ve even had proposals where the photographer was part of the plan, and can help guide you into a certain position, then have your spouse-to-be turn around right as you’re popping the question,” Brown says.
