Last year, we teamed up with award-winning film-makers I Do Films to give two lucky couples the chance to win a glamorous wedding video of their big day at Sandals Resorts and Beaches Resorts. Tyanna and Frank were our last winners who traveled to Sandals Ochi Beach for a glorious WeddingMoons experience all captured on film. There’s nothing like the warm vibe of an island wedding with a big Caribbean family! Expecting no more than a few people out of the large number of guests they invited, Ty and Frank were pleasantly surprised when 75 of their friends and family immediately jumped at the chance to celebrate their big day in the land of positive vibes.

It’s no secret a lot of destination wedding couples choose to have an island for the stunning beach backdrop. Being from Trinidad and Jamaica respectively, Tyana and Frank were no exception to this. Excited to have honor their Caribbean heritages with an island wedding, the couple who met after a mutual friend introduced them at church, settled on Sandals Ochi Beach Resort after falling in love with Jamaica on a family visit. Envisioning an island wedding with the “Sandals Touch” surrounded by friends and family pretty much sold Ty and Frank on a destination wedding. With bursts of tropical hues, rich cultural traditions and a back-up plan that’ll bring you to tears, there’s nothing you won’t love about this Caribbean-inspired WeddingMoon!

Ty and Frank originally planned to have a toes-in-the-sand beach wedding but on their big day Mother nature had other plans. Not to be stopped by a little “liquid sunshine” the wedding planners at Sandals Ochi sprung to action to surprise Ty and Frank with a beach-inspired setup at their Plan B location.

“We were both disappointed that our vision for a beach wedding in the sand would no longer be possible. Imagine my surprise to see the aisle covered in sand and lined with seashells. The wedding staff [was] incredible, they not only went above and beyond to see our vision but they made our vision their dream as well.  So despite the rain I was able to walk down the aisle to the man of my dreams in sand.  Perfection!” – Tyana.

Tyana wanted a dress with a lot of bling on top and a flowing bottom to fit the destination wedding style, plus enjoy dancing at her reception. After trying on more than 20 dresses, she found one she believed she like enough, however before paying convinced herself to have one more look around the local dress shopes. Interest piqued by a tiny gown shop she never noticed and accompanied by her personal dress-approval team (her mom and cousins) she finally found “the dress”!

“As I emerged with the first dress there were claps and cheers of excitement.  However when I slipped into the second dress and looked in the mirror my breath was taken away.  As I tried to gather my thoughts I could hear cheers from everyone waiting to see me. I emerged, there was no sound just gasps from everyone in the room.  As I saw tears in my mom’s eyes then slowly everyone else, including my own, I knew THIS WAS MY DRESS!!!”
