Personally we love a good tie debate; the bow-tie versus the necktie, the full Windsor knot versus the half Windsor knot, all in the name of formal or causal wear. Whether you’re more Daniel Craig as James Bond or more Zack Galifianakis in The Hangover, it’s all a matter of finding the right tie and knot to fit your look!

Lately, we’ve been big fans of the super sexy Eldredge and Trinity knots. They looks complicated and suave at the same time and stunning with any fabric or color tie. Can’t seem to get the gist of it from the photo? No problem. In his extreme love for ties, enthusiast Alex Kransy has created a video with step by step instructions of how to make the Eldridge knot come to life that’s pretty easy to follow.

- If you’re a big and tall guy, stay away from a skinny tie.
- Bowties make any look a classic one, whether in a hipster kind of way (with suspenders) or at an official black tie event.
- If you’re going for a more conservative look, try a Windsor, half Windsor or a Pratt knot.
- If you want to be a little casual fashionable (like at a rehearsal dinner) try a Four-in-hand knot with a cotton tie.
- For a knock-em-dead, “that look’s complicated” look, try an Eldredge or a Trinity knot.
- Silk and satin ties are perfect formal occasions.
- Your wedding date is a big one for you too; leave the clip on tie for a less formal occasion.
- Pink ties are super ok for weddings.
- Bowties with suspenders and no jacket make for a nice twist on mixing destination wedding casual with wedding formal.
