Many brides have been there… the big event is just a few months away and she wants to drop a few pounds to look smashing in her gorgeous wedding dress. Unfortunately, she waited until two months before the event to pull out the celery sticks… and that’s when diet fads become more tempting than they’ve ever been.
Before you make an appointment to be fitted for your nasal feeding tube that’s been a bit of a hot topic lately… STOP! We’ve put together a list of healthy (and safe) everyday eating habits to help you feel sexy and healthy on your wedding day.
Water, like your wedding planner, is your best friend! Replacing everything you drink normally with water can make a big difference in the months leading up to your wedding. Kick the sodas, sweetened juices, bottled ice teas and energy drinks to the curb. They can make your metabolism sluggish and are general y unhealthy to drink in excess. Just one can of soda may contain up to 39 grams of sugar or more per can; that’s almost 10 teaspoons of sugar with no calorific value. Nix the sugary drinks for water to bring you closer to your goal quicker. If you must have something hot in the mornings, try organic green tea with NO SUGAR! Green Tea also works well to prevent bloating.
*Fitness Fact- Drink a tall glass of water in the morning when you wake up and before eating to help get your body started. It’s actually more effective than caffeine. Drinking a glass of water about 20 minutes before you eat prevents you from over-eating as you feel full faster. Water is also a natural cleanser, so no need to do any extreme body cleansing the day before your wedding, just keep drinking water.
Kick the Fast Food Habit! We’re sure you’ve heard this before, so allow us to re-iterate: junk food is the worst thing you can consume months before your wedding. It’s all processed, extremely high in calories, with little to no fresh fruits or vegetables; it’s calories down the drain. If you’re a person on the go, try preparing meals the night before to take around with you to avoid temptation. Fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, low fat dairy and organic lean cuts of meat are the types of food you should eat to achieve weight loss goals.
*Fitness Fact- Avoid as many cream-based sauces and syrups as you can they tend to be high in sugar or fat. Make the majority of your plate vegetables, with a small amount of starch and a small protein for a more balanced meal. Avoid starches and carbs closer to bedtime.
Stay away from fad diets- The results may be quick but definitely not permanent; there’s a reason they’re called fads! When singer Beyonce lost twenty pounds in two weeks for her role in Dreamgirls using a popular fasting fad diet, she admitted she gained back every pound she had lost plus more and was moody the entire time.

Most fad diets work only for the time period you are on them and if done for too long cause serious health issues. Imagine losing a ton of weight for your wedding only to put back on every single pound plus more on your honeymoon! Make healthy eating habits a part of your everyday life and you’ll be in the best shape of your life for your wedding and your renewal vows later on.
*Fitness Fact– Fad diets carry the long term risk of dangerously slowing down your metabolism. Some of the dangers long term risks include: depression, fatigue, reduced sex drive, muscle loss, gallbladder disease, irritability and sinus problems. Does that sound worth the risk to you?
Remember over all, a happy bride will be a healthy bride; you’re getting married to the love of your life! Smile!
