Emily and Jason secretly jetted away to Sandals Whitehouse for an intimate destination wedding!
After Emily’s sister and her husband honeymooned at Sandals Negril nearly 13 years ago, Emily still remembered how much her sister bragged about how wonderful her trip was. When the Jason and Emily met by chance, after both moving to Alberta Canada from different provinces (more than 3,000 miles apart!), and got engaged, they knew where they wanted to begin their lives together!
The couple decided to have an intimate, surprise destination wedding at Sandals Whitehouse to make their big day as special and easy as possible. It was a dream come true for them both to be married under the pier gazebo, right on the water. They were excited about having so many beautiful locations for their wedding picture, especially since those photos would be the way they announced their wedding to their friends and family. Talk about a surprise!

Emily was very dedicated to incorporating her something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue into her wedding attire,
“My dress was my ‘something new’, I wore my sister’s veil (something borrowed), my garter was blue and I wore a gold ring given to me by my grandparents when I was born (something old).”
” …We’ll never forget the moment we first made eye contact as I (Emily), walked down the board-walk towards Jason. We both had tears in our eyes. Getting married right there by the water was a dream come true!” – Emily and Jason.
Emily and Jason decided to have a soft and romantic Beautiful Beginnings themed wedding customized with a soft, pink rose bouquet and boutonnière and white orchids on their wedding cake.
We HAD to get to the bottom of Emily and Jason’s surprise wedding. We knew our readers would want to know, how they pulled this amazing surprise wedding off!
Sunny: “OK, tell me EVERYTHING about your surprise! How did you decide to break the news to your family? What were their reactions to this surprise news?”
Emily and Jason: ” We decided to do the wedding on our own because our families are spread all over Canada and we knew it would be very difficult to get everyone together. Everyone knew we were going to Jamaica, but didn’t know it was to get married. Most assumed that we would probably get engaged when we were there. We were actually engaged already, but again, that was a secret! In the evening after our ceremony Jason called my parents and told them the exciting news. Then we called his parents! The word spread from there as we let our siblings in on the surprise. The only person who knew our secret was my sister! Everyone was so happy for us! My parents had a party for us when we went to back to my home town for Christmas. I wore my dress and Jason wore this wedding day outfit too! We plan on having a big party at our house this spring to celebrate with friends!”
This adventurous couple made their own wedding banners; one that said “surprise!” and another that said “thank you” in a chic black frame. How cute are they?!
