We promise, you’ve never met a couple as colorful and exciting as Katrina and Isaac. From the way they met and fell in love to their off-the-wall yet stunning wedding photos, they’re one couple who completely embodies what it means to “just go with it”. Naturally, a stress-free destination wedding was right up their alley – add in a bit of snorkelling after the “I Dos” and this had their names written all over it! Read their love story and you’ll enjoy their unconventional yet carefree WeddingMoon experience at Sandals Grande Antigua as much as they did!
Katrina and Isaac’s WeddingMoon Story
“We met in Tahoe, working at Applebee’s, in 2004 however, it wasn’t until January/February of 2005 that we became a “couple.” This proclamation was only after I [Katrina] hiked up a snowy hill in a blizzard to demand that Isaac quit ‘playing around’ and choose me. He happily conceded. The next thing he knew he was pitching a tent in a jaguar preserve in Belize. 8 years later the adventures still continue. Isaac and I are generally unconventional. Most of the stories I have heard about wedding planning involved a great deal of anxiety, stress, and expense. Two weeks into planning a “conventional” wedding, which involved coordinating the logistics of joining two families together from TN [Tennessee] and TX [Texas] while the bride and groom resided in CA [California], I was anxious and short of breath. Isaac, jokingly, suggested one day we just “run off to some island.” I took the first deep and genuinely satisfying breath I had taken in weeks when he said those words.
We immediately began our research and landed on the Sandals website. We also researched the reviews and even the wedding blog. We were sold! From the very beginning of the process we could tell we were in good hands. Upon arrival to the resort we had a brief meeting with our wedding coordinator, Ebony, and she made us feel at ease and comfortable that everything would go smoothly.
Running off to some island was just way more “us.” So much so, that no one was surprised when we spread the news of our unconventional wedding plan.
We loved everything about our Sandals wedding experience. Reading the vows we had written to one another was truly special. Splashing in the beautiful waters of the Caribbean minutes after saying “I do” was spectacular too! We also loved being able to just kick-back and relax after the ceremony. We chose the earliest time slot for our wedding and were back in our bathing suits by lunchtime!
Thank you so so much to the entire wedding coordinating team at Sandals Grande Antigua. We appreciate all of the personal care and attention we received. At no time did I feel like my wedding was any less important or less special than any other wedding I knew the team was coordinating. Some might imagine that a resort specializing in destination weddings might have the feeling of a wedding assembly line…nothing could be further from the truth. Thanks to the wedding coordinating team our special day was as anxiety free as possible, which is EXACTLY what we were hoping for. I would recommend this wedding option to ANYONE. Who am I kidding??? I have already boasted about it to every engaged couple I meet!”
Love,
Katrina and Isaac
