When “Fast and Furious” star, Paul Walker died, no one anticipated finding out what an angel on earth the deceased star really was. According to a story picked up by CBS Los Angeles, a military couple came forward to share how Walker played an angel in disguise for them in the days leading up to their wedding day in what the couple calls, “…the most generous thing anyone has ever done.”
Kyle and Kristen Upham In 2004, Kyle and Kristen Upham were shopping for an engagement ring at a jewelry store in Santa Barbara while Paul Walker happened to be browsing in the same store. The couple were browsing rings, finding one that they liked but cost $9,000. Somehow Kyle started chatting up a friendly Walker, who was at the time becoming known for his part in the Fast and Furious series, about his upcoming second tour of duty in Iraq. “And when he found out Kyle just came back from Iraq I remember seeing the look in his face,” Kristen said. “He kind of transformed.” The couple left the store without a ring, but were shocked when a saleswoman called them and told them to come back. When they got back, one of the sales ladies held out a bag and said, “Here’s your ring”. The couple was shocked and touched as they thought he ladies of the store had come together to purchase the ring for them. When they asked the employees who bought the $9,000 ring, all they got was a smile and a reply that it was a secret. Nine years later, store employee Irene King finally confirmed what the couple had suspected all along; Paul Walker bought their engagement ring. As told by King, just before Kyle and Kristen left the store, Walker called the manager and he said, “Umm, the ring that those people are looking at- put it on my tab,” King said. “Soon after that, he just left.” Like a true angel, Walker walked into their lives and bought the lucky couple the very symbol that would begin their lives as husband and wife and then walked out of their lives leaving behind a memory they’ll never forget. “When we hand down the ring through generations, there will always be a story to tell,” Kyle said. While Walker passed away heading to a charity event he was hosting through his foundation, many now know that charity was more than an event to him, it was his way of life. ]]>
