DIY: How To Clean Your Wedding Ring

This week’s wedding DIY is courtesy of the jewellery experts at Amoro Jewellery!

Diamond wedding and engagement rings are usually extensively worn and over time can easily lose their original sparkle and shine. While polished diamonds do resist some dust and grime, they also attract oils from skin, hand creams, etc. that can get lodged in your ring mounting and even stick to the surface of the diamonds. Eek! It’s these oils that accumulate dust and grime that rob your diamond wedding jewelery of its original sparkle, which can take away from the beauty of it.

The good news is restoring the original beauty of your engagement and wedding jewelery doesn’t have to be an expensive trip to the jewelery store. You can clean your rings yourself by following these easy steps!

What You’ll Need:

-A glass or teacup

-Hot Water

-Washing up liquid

-A soft brush with fine bristles (A toothbrush is fine)

-Soft Cloth

Instructions

Step 1: Add hot water to your glass or cup, add a small quantity of washing up liquid to the water and gentry drop in your diamond jewellery.

Step 2: Let your ring soak in the hot soapy water for a while to allow the dish-washing liquid to do its job of dissolving the oils lodged on and around your diamonds.

Step 3: Use a soft brush with fine bristles to gently scrub the backs and side of the diamond mountings to remove any accumulation of oils lodged there.

Step 4: Rinse your ring in warm water. Then dry with a soft cloth and get ready for the light show! Your diamond should sparkle and your setting should gleam.
