City Skylines Meets Seascapes: How We Met
Cymbre and Andy met during a college recruitment week in New York, where Andy was hosting prospective students. Although Cymbre ended up choosing a college in New Jersey, it didn’t stop the pair from staying connected. Five years and one day later, they were exchanging vows during their exotic destination wedding on the island of Jamaica at Sandals Royal Caribbean in Montego Bay.
“I had always wanted a destination wedding. I wanted a good middle point for family and friends,” explained travel-savvy Cymbre. “It was also of the utmost importance that our best friend/wedding officiant, who is in a wheelchair, be accommodated and able to attend all of the activities. I did tons of research and read travel reviews, obsessively! We decided on Sandals because it was really accessible.” The beach-side setting and lush garden vibes drew the couple to Sandals Royal Caribbean.
Known for its amazing beaches and the Caribbean’s first, all-inclusive Over-the-Water Bungalows and Villas, Sandals Royal Caribbean brings together a traditional island feel and exceptional modern luxuries—the perfect wedding venue to tie the knot for this trend-setting duo.
Welcome-To-Jamaica : The Perfect Destination Wedding
The words “Welcome to Jamaica” greeted guests as they stepped onto the white-sand shores for a beach bonfire reception. To blend traditional and contemporary motifs, the welcome party featured cocktail tables draped with bold-patterned linens and natural, raw elements like cut coconut bunches. The entertainment even stayed true to the theme with The Silver Birds, a local Caribbean steel pan band, playing an eclectic mix of current pop hits through the night.
Recreating the magic of the Caribbean sunset on a tablescape, light cyan popped from the plate settings, while fresh pineapples and a spectrum of yellow, peach and pink tropical arrangements brightened all corners of the oceanside venue. Even the ombre watercolor design of the wedding menus coordinated well with the rosy Caribbean sky and overall look. Jamaica’s warm, tropical setting lent itself beautifully to flowing dresses and light linens.
Cymbre and Andy worked closely with their Sandals wedding planner to create the perfect mood for the wedding reception. Like Alice discovering Wonderland for the first time, wedding guests came together in a blooming English-style garden. Dotted with whimsical details including an over-sized, tufted loveseat, a gold Baroque mirror used as a seating chart, hanging crystal chandeliers, and dramatic candelabra lighting.
Happily Ever After: The Love Continues
Closing out the night and a week of fun was a high-energy wedding party with a live fire breather and limbo dancer. Fuchsia florals in high-gloss black vases surrounded a modern, black-and-white dance floor.
The inspiration behind the big day and each event leading up to it was perfectly summed up by Cymbre: “The more time spent with friends, the better!”
Those in attendance were people who, in one way or another, had been a part of their journey as a couple from the very beginning. It gave you the sense that everything was more of a giant “thank you”. This was nothing like your typical wedding. But, what a wedding it was!
