Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg finally married his long-time (and we mean long… try nine years) girlfriend Priscilla. The wedding was kept under lock-and-key as the couple tied the knot this past weekend in Mark’s own backyard in an intimate ceremony followed by a low key reception that apparently caught their guests off guard (See: The Wedding). We love the surprise element of the wedding and the family backyard party style of the reception; you’ve got to love a couple who stays true to themselves despite having endless assets at their disposal.
The Wedding
Only about 100 guests were invited. The unsuspecting guests were led to believe the wedding was a graduation party for Chan who recently graduated from medical school. After all the guests arrived and were comfortable… Surprise! Here comes the bride! The party turned from a “good ole” backyard shin dig to a private and intimate wedding surprise party; talk about a bait and switch!
The Bride
Priscilla wore an elegant and very simple long sleeveless, silk dress with a lace upper bodice and train. Her lovely gown was designed by Claire Pettibone and cost an estimated $4,700 (totally worth it!). Her look was topped off with a long flowing veil lined with embroidered flowers. Her makeup was very natural and her hair beautifully pulled back under her veil. She looked like a relaxed backyard bride. Even the new Mrs. Zuckerberg’s wedding ring was simple (yet stunningly elegant) having been designed by her husband himself.
The Groom
We’ve got to hand it to Mark, he shed his trademark “hoodie” for a (yep, you guessed it) simple dark suit and a long tie. Since he’s know to wear hoodies to big stakeholder meetings on Wallstreet, it made the gesture all the more sweet and significant. Nice going Mark!
The Reception
The reception was all family backyard party style. Food was brought in from the couple’s favorite restaurants such as sushi from Fuki Sushi and Palto Alto Sol. This is the part we absolutely love; the couple’s dessert was the same thing they had on their first date nine years ago after they met during a party at Harvard University, chocolate mice.
How sweet was this entire wedding? We love how true to form everything stayed, we all know they could have thrown an extremely lavish and long drawn out event. Afterwards, The Zuckerbergs updated their Facebook statuses and posted a wedding photo of them holding hands on their Facebook pages (of course). Congratulations to you both!
