13 Stunning Destination Wedding Dresses
Our wedding blogger, Sunny chooses her favorite Spring 2013-2014 designer looks for destination wedding dresses!
If we had to pick our favorite wedding gown design for destination wedding, it would have to be tea length wedding gowns. They’re technically defined as a style of dress that falls anywhere between the bottom of the calf to the ankle and were made very popular by 1950’s icon Audrey Hepburn. Besides being extremely versatile (you can dress them down to be cute or dress them up to be classic retro-chic a là Betty Draper) they’re very destination wedding friendly. Beach brides will definitely appreciate the shorter hem and garden brides … well everyone will see your cute blue heels!
Speaking of heels, we’re head over them for these 13 tea length destination wedding dresses by some of our favorite wedding designers. As a bonus, we’ve listed the beautiful wedding destinations where we picture our favorite designer gowns! Take a peek and tell us which one calls your name?
Designer: Justin Alexander Spring 2013
Starting off very strong is this Betty Draper inspired look from designer Jason Alexander’s 2013 Spring collection. The detailing on the bodice is flawless. Is it just us or is this hair and make-up literally perfect for this look? We see this dress on the pier overlooking the water at Sandals Royal Plantation.
Designer: Modern Trousseau Spring 2014
We’re very inspired by this dainty princess look by Modern Trousseau; especially the faint nude color! The wedding garden at Sandals Negril underneath the romantic gazebo overlooking the fountain is perfect for this dress.
Designer: Sassi Holford London 2013
Sassi Holford designs and makes classic, English dresses with a contemporary edge….this nails it! Does anyone else see Pipa Middleton written all over this? We see this dress in the gardens at Sandals Whitehouse; it fits perfectly.
Designer: Monique Lhuillier
It’s flirty, it’s romantic and that bow is everything! Whimsical hair and elegant heels make this dress a gorgeous garden wedding gown in our eyes. Who else thinks Sandals Grande Antigua?
Designer: Elizabeth Fillmore Spring 2013
This one is a little edgy but we love it nonetheless. We see this dress on the beachfront of Sandals Halcyon Beach with a seashell arch, loose wavey hair and barefoot sandals.
Designer: Hayley Paige Spring 2013
Hayley Paige, oh Hayley Paige, how we adore thee! We don’t know what we love more, the high-low hemline mixed with the tea length design or the utter casual yet glam feel of this entire gorgeous gown. Definitely Sandals Royal Caribbean ready!
Designer: Ines Di Santo Spring 2014
Ah, another Pippa Middleton! While it may be a bit short to be a tea length dress, Ines Di Santo definitely brought the classic English look to destination weddings (or vow renewals!) with this posh and lovely design. We see this dress with a bird cage veil and a bouquet of hanging dendrobium orchids re-tying the knot at Sandals Carlyle.
Designer: Justin Alexander
Lace and tulle always make for romantic dresses. Paired with a feather fascinator and a bouquet of lush pink roses, this gown would make for a lovely destination bride. This gown would fit in nicely at Sandals Grande St. Lucian.
Designer: Sincerity Bridal
We’re all thinking it; how very Jackie Kennedy! It doesn’t help that the model wearing this beautiful gown with satin cummerbund slightly looks like her either. The white gloves, the perfect heels, it’s all so regal. We see this dress on the sprawling garden lawn of Sandals Grande Riveira.
Designer: Oleg Cassini for David’s Bridal Spring 2012
It’s the high-low mixed with tea length again! Can we just say that we love all of the glove pairing we’re seeing from designers?! This detailed neckline mixed with the plain satin skirt makes this dress look very royal wedding to us. Sandals Royal Bahamian it is!
Designer: Tobi Hannah 2013
It’s as if Audrey Hepburn herself whispered to Tobi Hannah about designing this dress together. It’s very cute and simple, which is the perfect canvas for stylish brides to play with. You can go so many ways with a dress like this- fascinators, color heels, statement necklaces, bold earrings, the list is endless! This dress would fit in at a simple but classic, summer wedding on the beach at Sandals Grande Antigua.
Designer: Rafael Cennamo Spring 2014
We heart the double hemline and the subtle peplum skirt on this fairy-inspired gown. Very clever! On the beach at Sandals Emerald Bay, this dress would be at home under a clear blue sky.
Designer: Reem Acra Spring 2014
Stunning! This gown is a certified jaw dropper. It is literally the perfect gown for women who want the convenience of a tea length dress with all the ethereal wonder of a fairytale wedding gown. The high-low skirt also gives the bride a subtle train behind her. Hats off to you, Reem Acra! We picture a luxurious sunset wedding in the gardens of Sandals La Toc.
These gowns are definitly pin-worthy!
